Japan Pavilion Voice Guide Features Chris Tomoko

Your journey through the Japan Pavilion will be accompanied by the voice of radio DJ Chris Tomoko. Her calming tones will guide you through the pavilion's attractions and its exhibits’ highlights.
We encourage you to use the audio guide to enhance your visit and fully enjoy the unique experience the Japan Pavilion offers.
Before You Begin
- You can access the audio guide directly on your smartphone.
- The audio guide is only available within the pavilion's boundaries.
- Due to occasional background noise from video exhibits, you may find it difficult to hear the audio clearly. We recommend using your headphones when listening to the audio guide.
- If you don't have headphones, please be mindful of the volume and consider holding your smartphone close to your ear, ensuring the audio doesn't disturb other visitors.
- When using the audio guide, please refrain from walking while looking at your screen to avoid bumping into other people or exhibits.
- Please note that the audio guide may not be compatible with all smartphone models.
*For visitors with visual impairments, we also provide a Universal Design (UD) audio guide. This guide will play automatically as you approach relevant areas, offering assistance with navigation and descriptions of the exhibits. Please enquire about this guide at the reception desk upon entry.
Chris Tomoko – Profile

Having spent her early childhood in Kyoto, Hawaii, and Philadelphia, Chris Tomoko grew up in Yokohama from the age of eight. Following her graduation from Sophia University's Institute of Comparative Culture, where she specialised in sociology, she made her debut as a navigator at Tokyo’s FM radio station J-WAVE. She has since presented a variety of programmes for the station, including the weekday morning show "BOOMTOWN", which she hosted for ten and a half years.
Currently, alongside her role as a regular navigator for J-WAVE's "TALK TO NEIGHBORS", broadcast Monday to Thursday from 13:00 to 13:30, Chris Tomoko engages in a diverse range of activities, including working as an MC, voice-over artist, and speaker at talk events, as well as essay writing, performing readings, and participating in art gatherings.
Her areas of expertise encompass lifestyle, design, and art. On the radio, she strives to create an inviting space where listeners can enjoy a comfortable and pleasing audio experience, whilst sharing her curiosity and enthusiasm for new discoveries.
