Enjoy a Futuristic Interactive Experience at the Japan Pavilion That Involves the Transmission of Tactile Sensations and Vibrations! Make New Connections Through “Fureau Denwa”

At Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will exhibit the Japanese Government Pavilion (or “Japan Pavilion” in short) on the theme of “Between Lives.” The Japan Pavilion, in collaboration with NIPPON TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE CORPORATION (“NTT”), has decided to set up a new communication experience device known as “Fureau Denwa,” which utilizes the next-generation communication technology “All-Photonics Connect powered by IOWN,”(*1) as part of content that embodies the Expo’s concept of a “laboratory for a future society.” The Japan Pavilion will be linked to a dedicated Expo booth at Kansai International Airport to create opportunities for new interactions that transcend physical distance and allow visitors to experience the feeling of being nearby. “Dynamic Equilibrium of Life,” the signature pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, where “Fureau Denwa” will be set up, will also be connected to the NTT Pavilion.
The Japan Pavilion will offer Expo visitors the opportunity to experience a new means of making connections based on the theme of “from telephones to tactile communication.”
Connecting the Japan Pavilion and Kansai International Airport via “Fureau Denwa” and providing a new communication experience that involves the transmission of tactile sensations and vibrations!
“Fureau Denwa” is a next-generation communication experience that seeks to transcend physical distance and create the feeling of being nearby by sharing vibrations and tactile sensations in addition to video and audio. Visitors arriving at Kansai International Airport and visitors to the Japan Pavilion can interact with each other in different languages around the world through the “Fureau Denwa” monitor, thereby sharing their expressions and voices in real time. Moreover, by touching the round hand-shaped symbols on either side of the monitor, visitors can enjoy the sensation of actually giving high-fives through vibrations and tactile sensations, offering a new form of interaction that naturally brings people closer together even if they are meeting for the first time. This experience will spark excitement for the Japan Pavilion among tourists from overseas and generate interest in making international connections among visitors to the Japan Pavilion, thereby creating opportunities for moving interactions that can only be experienced at the Expo.
The interactive content offered by “Fureau Denwa” will enable visitors to experience the joy of meeting and connecting with people from all around the world.
*To experience “Fureau Denwa” at the Japan Pavilion, visitors are required to make reservations to enter the pavilion.
